Who We Are

Grounded Solutions is owned and operated by Margot Ursic who brings more than two decades of experience as an applied Planning Ecologist and Facilitator.

As the Principal of Grounded Solutions, Margot provides services independently and is able to build teams tailored to the given project and client by drawing on her network of associates. She is known for the integrity of her work, her pragmatic approach to problem solving, and her responsiveness to client and project requirements.

What We Do

Grounded Solutions works to help identify opportunities and resolve challenges related to the planning, integration and management of natural assets into urban settings.

The firm provides guidance related to:

  • natural heritage and urban forest planning and management
  • municipal natural assets, and
  • nature-based climate change strategies.

Grounded Solutions provides guidance at all geographic scales, from regional to site-specific. The firm also leads and supports engagement with public and private sector stakeholders and partners, and assists with strategic planning for environmental initiatives.

Deliverables related to natural heritage and urban forestry include:

  • policy review and guidance
  • strategic plans and management plans
  • engagement and communications
  • guidance for inventorying, maintaining and monitoring natural assets
  • monitoring frameworks and plans, and
  • peer review and expert advice or testimony.
